Janet Simpson RDA is an enthusiastic speaker and consultant specializing in dental radiology.   As the owner of Dental fundamentals CE she enjoys using her clinical and teaching experience to help dental auxiliaries gain access to education and experience higher job satisfaction.   A graduate of San Diego State University, with a degree n vocational education, Janet was recognized as an exemplary online instructor by San Diego Mesa College where she worked as an adjunct instructor for 5 years.  With experience in general and pediatric dentistry, Janet has enjoyed her roles as dental assistant, clinic coordinator and team trainer.  Janet is passionate about supporting the underserved.  She enjoys her work as Clinic coordinator for Cura Smiles Dental Clinic, providing pro bono oral healthcare to those in need in the heart of San Diego.  Cura Smiles is the recipient of the 2021 Oral Health Champion Award by the county of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency.

Course description

In this interactive course designed for the full team, the learner will examine the skills and knowledge needed to expose diagnostic quality images while improving patient comfort.  Explore the key factors that make obtaining x-rays with the wired sensor more difficult than traditional film or phosphor plates.  Discover how images are projected onto the sensor through a demonstration of shadow casting.  Refresh your understanding of sensor placement and PID angulation.  Learn the principles of the bisecting technique from a description of the geometry to practical application using unique clinical footage.  Consider the factors that contribute to overlapping on bitewings and identify solutions through analysis of clinical video examples.
